Jim Bauer: Bio

Jim Bauer is a Boston-based writer, composer, lyricist, songwriter, arranger, orchestrator and performing musician. He is affiliated with SESAC  as both writer (James Watson Bauer) and publisher (Kokovoko Music)

CURRENT PROJECT

DAGMAR, started in New York City in 2005, is the collaboration of singer/songwriter JIM BAUER and singer/actor MEGHAN McGEARY.  Having met when McGeary joined the cast of Bauer's then-nascent, now fully-developed musical theater extravaganza THE BLUE FLOWER, they set out together on a trip from "here to wherever" to create and perform a "meta-folk" song cycle about a guy who can't get out of bed in the morning and an insect goddess who plunges through the ether to rescue him.  After releasing three albums ("Door No. 1" (2006), "Door No. 2" (2009), and "Door No. 3" (2010) and performing in the clubs, streets and subways of New York City and Boston, MA for, as they call them, "people in motion", they are now collaborating with U.K. producer ROBBIE BRONNIMAN and drummer/percussionist DAVID ROZENBLATT on a "folktronica" setting of the songs that will be the foundation for a full multi-media theatrical show called "DAGMAR:  EXO", with the first developmental production of the show planned for early 2012.  The roughly 90-minute stage show will morph organically from comedy, tragedy, love, loss and redemption to an ecstatic dance party for audience and cast alike, also fueled by DAGMAR folktronica tracks and a VJ.

THEATER

THE BLUE FLOWER, award-winning multi-media musical created by Jim Bauer (music, lyrics, orchestration, script & videography) and his wife, visual artist Ruth Bauer (artwork, story, videography).
