Born and raised in New York City as a music and performance-art experiment, DAGMAR is the collaboration of singer/songwriter Jim Bauer and actor/singer Meghan McGeary. Having met when McGeary joined the cast of Bauer's then-nascent, now fully-developed musical play The Blue Flower, they set out together in 2005 on a trip from "here to wherever" creating and performing a "meta-folk" song cycle about a guy who can't get out of bed in the morning and an insect goddess who plunges through the ether to rescue him. After self-releasing three albums on Bauer's own Pontoon Records World Headquarters label and performing in the clubs, streets and subways of New York City and Boston for, as Bauer calls them, "people in motion", the duo remains undaunted as well as unsigned. In collaboration with U.K. music producer Robbie Bronnimann, Bauer is in the process now of turning the Dagmar song cycle into a large scale "folktronica" concert called "EXO" that will blend music performance and narrative.
